Weed Spraying & Vegetation Management
Spraying
Under the Weed Control Act, the ASB shall control/eradicate all regulated weeds prescribed by the Weed Control Regulations.
Smoky Lake County blanket sprays one half of the County’s Right-of-ways for brush per year using a residual herbicide alternating between Zone 1 (West County Line of Range Road 200 to Range Road 160) and Zone 2 (Range Road 160 to East County Line Range Road 120).
Spot Spraying invasive weeds in municipal right-of-ways will coincide with weed inspections. At the discretion of the Agricultural Fieldman, priority areas within the county will be completed first.
As part of an integrated approach in weed management, landowners can apply to have their field margins sprayed from their property line outwards into the County Right of Way to control invasive species on fence lines and field margins. Landowners interested in participating in the “Reverse Fenceline Program” must sign Schedule “B”: Reverse Fenceline Spray Program – Application Form below.
