Property Tax Notices - Owner Responsibilities - Due Date - Penalty information - Payment

Combined property assessment and taxation notices are sent to property owners in June every year. Any ratepayer who has not received their property tax notice by the end of June are advised to call the Smoky Lake County Main Office at 780-656-3730.

If you do not receive your property assessment and taxation notice, you are still responsible for paying your taxes and any applicable penalties.

Taxes are due on October 31st of each year.

A penalty of twelve percent (12%) will be applied to all current taxes with an unpaid balance of $10.00 and more on November 1st of each year in which the tax is levied and the penalty shall be added to and form a part of the unpaid taxes.

A fifteen percent (15%) penalty shall be added to all outstanding taxes with an unpaid balance of $10.00 and more March 1st of each year and that the penalty shall be added to and form part of the unpaid taxes.

Your entire tax bill can be paid at any time, but there is no discount for early payment.
